From Family Experience to a Career in Care
Lisa's grandfather's stroke first showed her what thoughtful care could mean. It eventually led her from frontline support into a leadership role at DANS.

A personal experience that changed direction
When Lisa's grandfather had a stroke, her family saw first-hand how much the right support could mean. The care provided to both him and her grandmother stayed with Lisa and gave her a clear reason to contribute to the same kind of work in her own community.
Starting where care happens
Lisa joined DANS in 2018 as a care worker. Working directly in clients' homes gave her a close understanding of the routines, relationships and small details that shape good care from one day to the next.
Growing into a wider role
Over time, that frontline experience became the foundation for her work as a Care Manager. She now helps bring together clients, families and care workers, looking at the whole person rather than treating each visit as a separate task.
A team designed to support people well
Professional development, ongoing learning, the DANS app and round-the-clock on-call support all help care workers feel connected to a wider team. For Emily, who helps welcome new people into DANS, that support is part of what makes a career in care feel sustainable as well as rewarding.
“If you're considering working in the care industry, particularly with DANS In Home Care, you won't regret it. There's no other job like it.”
— Emily, Recruitment & People Coordinator
